I managed to slightly bend the PTO shaft on the manure spreader. The shaft is rather long (3+ ft) - anyone have an idea how expensive it will be to replace the shaft? A couple of farmers recommended straightening it out, but I don't know if that's possible..

You might be able to simply replace the shaft portion (see diagram) of your pto shaft. I know locally that I can buy shaft material by the foot for only a few dollars per foot.

TSC has a fertilizer spreader shaft (PTO) for about $85. Actually they have several. just need to have your size when you go in.

Any machinist worth their salt can straighten a shaft like that. Problem is, it may cost more to straighten it that replacing it. A few years back, I bought a 3000 Ford to re-sell that had a bent pto shaft INSIDE the tractor. (result of tractor rolling off a moving trailer with a bush hog attached) I removed that shaft and sent it to work with my son-in-law who is a machinist. He straightened it. I re-installed it. A friend still owns the tractor. No ill effects.

If your tractor dealer is a Ag dealer, they should have the material to replace the damaged portion of the shaft.
