Default Backhoe

I currently do not have the tractor that I want forever. I would like a loader. With the hydraulics on the tractor I feel I would be disappointed with the performance. Not to metion the tractor is 2wd. What does the board think about a small Landpride 3pt backhoe (very light duty w/ pto pump)? My thoughts are I could take it with me to a different tractor. With a loader it is more custom to fit the tractor therefore possibly having to buy another loader with a different tractor.
Ideas????

Craig,

If I understand you... you don't have any loader now nor intend to buy one for your current tractor because its 2WD...

Now you want to buy and mount a LP backhoe for this 2WD and use on future tractors...

Normally you have a loader mounted for a counter-balance/ballast with a backhoe... in your case , you'd need a lot of suitcase weights hanging on the front for ballast in lieu of a loader...

Just some thoughts and ideas as per your request...

As John points out, most BHs require a loader. By the way, I didn't know Landpride makes backhoes. Did they buy someone? Anyone know who?

The other consideration is size. How big a BH would you get for your tractor today, and will it be the right size once you get your dream tractor. Realistically, will you just end up trading in the BH too?

What tractor doyou have now and do you have any sense what you might eventually like to move to?

They just started bulding them. I had a chance all the different brands they bought for testing and then they built there units, I'm sure they had to stay away from patten rights.

Craig,
I believe you would be disappointed in the performance of a tractor with a backhoe and no loader. As mentioned by others the loader counter weights the backhoe and your tractor would be real light in the front end. A loader is also your front stabilizer when using the backhoe. My experience is that with out the loader planted the backhoe will just drag the tractor around. Very unproductive and dangerous. Then there is the issue of how to move the dirt after you have dug it.

On a financial side, what if you end up with a bigger tractor and find that this hoe is to small. You may not need and external hydraulic pump with a newer tractor and the subframe may be different for a different tractor in the future. I donít know what the Landpride backhoe sells for, but it has to be as much as a good down payment on a new tractor.

I currently have a JD 850 power steering 2wd turf tires. I have been trying to buy nice implements now so when I upgrade to the 'dream' tractor 4600-4700 4wd hst w/loader I won't have the expense of buying the toys after the huge expense of the new tractor. In other words I don't want to just drive my tractor around the yard I want to use it for mowing (woods rd72) landscaping (loader/backhoe/boxblade). Any suggestions for implements that I could get now while I have cash that would carry over to a newer tractor (tiller).

The LD Backhoe looks identical to my Kelley Backhoe.
I use a Kelley B600 on my 25HP zetor. It is a 2wd without PS and I do not have any front weights and my front tires are not filled. I have absolutely no problems. If I put it in high range and a high gear and pop the clutch the front end will bounce.

Yep it's a Kelley Backhoe. I just downloaded the .pdf files and compared the specs, user manual, part manual, and pics from the landpride webside. They are Kelley Backhoes.
I have to say I like their manuals better than the Kelley manuals!

I do have the front suit case weights. I think there are 6 at 40 pounds a piece.
