spring is around the corner (or i like to think so!) and i am getting ready to plant around 500 bushes around my 3 acres.

last year, i planted around 500 trees, and, unlike last year, i don't want to run hoses over the property b/c of lawnmowing.

i have researched water tanks for the rtv, and 1 gall of water is 8.3 lbs -- leading only a 110 gall. tank capacity on the bed of the rtv.

i already have a 60 gall tank on the back of my sprayer. last year i used 250K galls of water -- i know, that's a lot to use tanking-it, but i plan on getting some from my pond too, this year.

has anyone gone over the 1100 lb. bed recommendation of the rtv? if so, high high did you go?

this won't be for terrain work -- all flat.

thanks!

eric

hey norm --

-- i just researched the devil out of those things -- :D

i love the trailer / pump / tank idea, but it's $3200 for the 325 gall tank, plust $1500 shipping --

-- $4700 total --

-- whereas a 200 gall tank on my rtv with my handy honda pump filling from my pond is only $350, delivered --

so, there's a $4300 difference there -- quite a bit --

I had an HPX which I carried full of 3/4 rock road pack to where it was piled high in the center and running over the sides. It had to be nearly 2000 pounds. I would not recommend that every day but I wanted to see what it would do and I needed the rock. As far as towing, it will pull pretty much anything you can put behind it. I pulled 200 bushel of shell corn in a gravity bed wagon that weighed over 13,000 pounds on sod and there was no problem. I did have to put it in 4 wheel drive and low range. I have the XUV now and have pulled a similar weight but have not had that big a load on it yet. I would think you could haul the rated weight (or perhaps a little over) without having any problems.

i built cranes for a livin before my injury and we used to under rate them and i'm sure the utv's are the same . if they say they can haul 1k in the bed you can probably double it but then you will start to have break downs after that.the company's will always under rate thier products so that way it doesn't have breakdowns and cost them money in warranty repairs . and also it's a safety issue too so that way if they go with a much lower load amount then they know that if someone gets hurt they can alway go into court and say well when we was testing this utv we tested it at 3k in the bed but we rated it for 1k just to be on the safe side. here's abuddy's bota loaded with wet clay dirt.i'm sure it's maxed out to the requiered load according to bota but he has no truble hauling this all day long.

Eric: If you plan to fill from a pond remember to filter it, I've used a inexpensive sump pump and my generator to fill the tank and unload it the same way.

I think Tommy's pic says it all but for what it's worth I have loaded mine with as much green oak wood as I could possibly get in it, heaped probably three times the depth of the bed above it and have also piled wet, and i mean wet horse poop and sawdust as high as I could bet it and didn't even hit the bumpers on the rear springs. I was told by a friend he has hauled as much as 3000lb and no problems.

like i said they have to under rate them for thier warranty work plus safety issues.i know i i said i have hauled about 900lbs in my hpx but it could have been more. infact we fixin to fill in sme holes on the trails and we need to haul some broken cement i'll get some pics from that. but yes they are way under rated . i know the hpx can take on a goos 2k lbs easy in the bed just by the way she handles 1k lbs. just make sure you got the tires to handle the pressure now .the frame and transmission might handle it but youe stock tires might blow.lol
