Is it just me, or are the price of these Utility vehicles darn near getting as close as a pickup truck.

I was at the shop yesterday, and these things are up to 11k -18k, and I saw a three day special on a Ford 150 for 13K

You know an air conditioned VERY MINI four wheel drive hi jet sells brand new 2008 for around 7k.

I just talked to them and they will ship them over ( you have to buy 6 units ) in a container.

My point is this is even with duty$60.00 Broker $280, shipping you get a four wheel drive vehicle, a Looooooong bed for your tools, closed air heat conditioned CLOSED cab......and these people that sell side by sides are getting 12k for an open cab "motorcycle"

The beds have been my biggest issues with these utv's, don't they think people want to use them on ranches and fill them up with working tools etc. - I guess not.

Any way I just bought in the last minute, a used 30k miles, one on E-bay with air and 4wd for 4k, I'll let you all know how it turns out. I look at it this way I just saved 8k, that can go into a college fund. But I wanted a long bed and 4wd, so lets see if this works.

The mini trucks are nice but they don't meet the needs of everyone. I like the long bed on them but I do not want a cab as glass and trees do not play well together.

The price is high on these UTV's but you also have to remember, they don't build a lot of them like they do with cars and trucks so the cost per unit is going to be higher for a UTV then a truck. Then you also have the demand for them which helps keep the cost up.

How hard would it be to get used to driving the little suckers from the wrong side?

Take a look at these mini's.

Yea I saw that, but still for my needs, a spray rig, hauling a bunch of shovels, picks, PVC stuff out in the field and using it as a rolling tool box, I'll have to put up with the right had steering - good practice if I ever go to them foreign countries.

I mean how difficult would it be to put a longer bed on the current line up of vehicles? I would think golf courses, smaller ranches, some kids camps, etc would go crazy for the current UTV's with a longer bed.

I'm thinking of putting a full headache rack on it to haul the 10' pieces of PVC, a built in water Jug,

Out my way the Air Conditioning will be appreciated.

Look at the load of wood on this guy. bottom of the page

How well would these little trucks work as a dump truck?? I was thinking about buying a dump trailer that holds 5 or 6 FEL loads to carry across the property. This may be a better option, any experience on that??
