I ended up buying the 3/8 threaded rod and cut it to the overall linkage length. Had to take a Dremel and cut out some of the console around the shifter to allow more forward and backward movement of the actual shifter. Things now work like a charm...at least until the next thing konks out. The prior owner had put a few tack welds on the shift linkage to make it a rigid assembly, I mistakenly ground them off thinking the springs on the linkage must be there for a reason...but was wrong.

Hi I have a f570 pug as well and like it very much I too had the problem with axle fixed noproblem but i have a new prob. it won't move i think is there a sher pin in the axle i put it in gear and the drivers side turns a little but won't move what do you think is the prob. please help thanks

Did some research and a couple things I'd posted are incorrect. First, the transaxle is made by Dana Spicer and is a Model 012 (or just Model 12). They are very common and still in production and parts are easy to get.
Same for brakes.

The engine, a Briggs 18hp v-twin, is as common as house flies - nothing about it is hard to find or repair. The rest of the PUG is pretty simple and straightforward. The only problem we have had was NOT a broken axle but a seized bearing on the axle. The previous owner got it wet...a lot...and several of the bearings in the rear end assembly were shot. We replaced them all. All bearings are standard, off-the-shelf stuff - $10 each all day long - and easy to replace.

As near as we can tell the only potential problem with parts is the rear axles. They are $100 each and there are four and have the drive sprockets welded onto them. The axles will never wear out - they ride on bearings - but the sprockets could wear out after a couple thousand hours. Even then, it might be a relatively simple thing to cut the sprocket off and weld on a new one. So far, that is the only odd item on this machine. Everything else is pretty much "hardware store" stuff. Even control arm bushings are a commong NAPA item. Very simple, very rugged, made in USA machine. If you own a welder and a hammer, you can fix about anything on it.

I have a pug f570 and i put it in gear forward or rev. and it won't move the belt and clutch are find the dfiver side spocket moves a little but it won't go any ideas? please help if you can thanks

There should be a Woodruf key (spelling???) inside the sprocket hub, most likely broken.
Most people replace them with one that is too small instead of using a file to clean out the key-way.

I have the same problem with my F570. It has slowly lost reverse. FWD has been fine. My question is what lubricant goes in the Spicer transaxle and how much? I put a screwdriver in it to measure fluid and it came out dry.

We have the F570 6X4 and our transmission just went out. After pulling it apart, we discovered that the rear drive shaft (left side) is broken.

I don't suppose that you have an extra drive shaft around that you would be willing to sell.

I need a drive belt for a Pug F570 6x4. Also, I had the front tires on my pug drop off into a wash out. We pulled it back so the front tires were back on the road however now it is hard to get in and out of gear and to get into neutral - we actually have to shut the engine off in order to shift and starting it in gear is a bit wild. What can be done to fix this?
