I finally picked up a timing light with a built in tach so I could check my high speed rpms and adjust them per this thread
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/155957-rtv500-throttle-adjustments.html
My unit was set to 3650 rpms, turns out the throttle cable was stretched a bit and the butterfly wasn't hitting the high speed screw stop. After a quick adjustment there I was up to 3750 and the rest was adjusting the screw to get the rpms up to 4070....(4K +/-100 was recommended) While I was there I decided to back my servo off just a whisker, when I hit steep hills my unit would bog at first then eventually start pulling again. After the rpm and servo adjustment it's even better on power.
It's great having all the information that this forum provides at your fingertips.
