Thinking about a new Polaris 500 HO 4x4 (2011)

I ended up buying a 400 HO Polaris 4x4. It actually has a 455cc engine vs a 498 in the 500. For the same money as the 500 I got the 400 with a 2500lb winch, roller fairlead, and front/rear rack extentions mounted and loaded on my trailer within an hour or so. Pics to follow soon.

I was a Polaris mechanic for about 5 years back in the 90's. Polaris has been making the 500HO for a long time now and it has been their most reliable machine overall. The old 2 cycle 400s were wickedly powerful, but not very long lived.

I have a 2007 800 Sportsman with a Warn 2500 winch and really like it. You will love your winch. A couple of aftermarket gadgets I have added is a Quadovator coolant temp gauge kit and a Jamhard radiator guard. The radiator on the Sportsman is down low and easy to puncture with sticks. I also switched out the steel aircraft cable on the winch with Amsteel Blue synthetic rope.Polaris ATV Temp Gauge Kit Coolant Switch Illuminated System Quad

Actually the newer models like mine have the radiator mounted up higher. I am looking into a tube bumper for front and back

Did you get a 2011?? The 400 is the model I am looking At. Can't beat Polaris on the price.
