I'm thinking about buying an older Bobcat, possibly a 743. One of the infrequent applications will be to brush mow. A local sales rep told me a 743 can handle a 5' hydraulic mower, but it's kind of hard to justify spending the $$ when I already have access to a 3pt brush mower and other attachments. So, when running a hydraulic pto adapter, how do you determine what the machine can handle? The hydraulic hp formula puts a 743 as developing about 16 hp (2500psi, 11gpm), but that seems underpowered for running a 5' mower based on pto hp guidelines

Did the 743 have a hi-flow option? I agree that you don't have enough power to run a 5 ft hog very well since that 16 HP is input HP and you will lose 25% or more of that at the motor.

I don't think it has a high flow option, but not sure.

Any other suggestions? I can't justify spending $3K + to mow every once in a while.
