Anyone have any experience having to repair the backhoe boom? I have the 6TB and the lower arm of the boom where it attaches to the upper arm broke apart last night while digging a 3 inch stump out. I will get some pictures today. Thinking I might be able to take it off and take it into work to have them weld it back together. Not sure how strong it will be in the end.

Finally took some pictures. Not a lot of room to make a repair.

Wow that's a shocker. Better add some steel around that bushing when u put it back together. I'm surprised how thin it looks.

there is plenty of room on the outside to make a repair and plate it. Looks like it was partially broken for awhile by the rusty fracture. CJ

Oh, dear

I would cut off all the bent steel and weld in new plate, with gussets. I would also
buy a new piece of DOM tubing for the pivot. The repair should be stronger than
the original.

Now you can see why digging stumps is the greatest stress you can put on a hoe.

I took it in to the shop. They are going to cut out the bad bent stuff then weld in new metal with gussets. Should be done this week.
