Hi, I'm interested in a Bolens model 1948 snow blower and need to know what pto rpm they are designed to run at. I see Bolens tractors matched for this blower with 2- 3 pto speeds , I only have 540. I just learned they are belt driven off the motor but what RPM do they need ? I want to drive it off the 540 PTO.

Thanks, Buppie

I don't visit this forum much so sorry for the late response, and I don't even have an exact answer for you but I can say that the PTO off the front of the tractors the 1948 snow thrower was designed to be used with runs about a 1:1 ratio on the drive and driven sheeves, or very close to it the best I can tell which means the input to the thrower gear box should be close to engine operating speeds, or about 2500 rpm (give or take) to be effective.
