Re: Subframe for ARPS 730 backhoe
Thanks Dave,
The springs on the swing cylinder mounts just seem to allow the cylinders to pivot a little bit so they self-align as they pull on the chains. The swing cylinders are single-acting, working in tension against the unsprung side of the mount. There is a cushion valve on the swing circuit but I can still get it to stop hard and oscillate if I'm not careful. That is the one disadvantage of the swinging seat - it shakes me up more than a conventional seat would. Thankfully the pins are still pretty tight.
If you are talking about the swing travel limit stops they are just rubber bumpers.
Taylor,
I didn't know there was a model 740 until you posted. I just did a search and stole this pic of a brochure from an ebay listing. Just like mine only bigger!

Re: Subframe for ARPS 730 backhoe
I see this advantage of the seat pivoting with the boom: When digging
off to the side, you use the same motions to control the joysticks. When
I am digging 90-degrees to the side, my coordination of the valves is much
worse because my perspective is all wrong.
Disadvantages? It would seem you need more clearance to the rear of
the tractor, requiring you hoe to stick farther out back.See my TBN projects at:

Re: Subframe for ARPS 730 backhoe
Hello, I like the sub-frame, very nice, very nice work and welds too.
I recently picked up a ARPS 730, have it in the shop getting all new packing and having new lines made, 2 push rods need turned and re chromed or just replace them, lost the cushion seat on the way home.
Plan to repaint this summer,,better weather plus not having a shop big enough,,,umm 8' x 12' with millermatic 185/ largest argon bottle available, 65 gal. air compressor, drill press, old Lincoln ac welder with nearly 100' of double leads, Oxy/acet. tanks- the largest ones and a speed bag set up,,,ooo almost forgot,,,,,2' x 8' x3" bench,,,,back to were i was talking about,,,,shops a little small
I look forward to running it on the new John deere 5075M Deluxe open station 75 HP / 60 PTO HP with 16x16PowrReverser, electrohydalics, triple rear scv deluxe, power beyond, triple mid remotes, Up graded lower link lift capacity, NO BEER HOLDER???? whats with that?
I have only had it on 2 times, once to check it out when purchasing it and well actually left it on and got it home then transported it about 10 miles to a marine/hydraulics repair place,,,last week. Lost about maybe a total of 1 quart from the day tested and parked at home and on the trailer,,,,look forwards to a completely rebuilt unit and a much less slippery trailer.

Re: Subframe for ARPS 730 backhoe
Hey Twlyons, Just now noticed your reply. Congrats on the backhoe, tractor, and all the other goodies. Noticed you haven't posted lately - hope you are still checking the forum.
The reason I went back to this thread was that Amerequip now has the old manuals online. Here are some links:
http://www.amerequip.com/assets/docu...30-backhoe.pdf
http://www.amerequip.com/assets/docu...40-backhoe.pdf
http://www.amerequip.com/assets/docu...28-backhoe.pdf
As you can see, just edit the model number in the link if you have a different ARPS backhoe.
Here's the link to their library page with all of the past and present backhoes. http://www.amerequip.com/document-library.htmlLast edited by Brad_Blazer; 12-30-2012 at 10:34 AM.
