|  Completed Grapple
Folks I have completed the grapple for my Kubota L4310 - I used mostly 2nd hand steel - 2x3 1/4 inch square tubing and grade 10 walkway grates for the brush guard on the grill and the grapple. Over all I would suggest anyone looking for a 3rd function kit get the WR Long kit - it sets up wonderfully and the thumb switch on the loader control makes it seem to easy.
I would like to thank Kennyd along with Dave and Jason for the input they had on this project - also the TBN'er whom stuck a limb through his JD - as I used that picture for the justification to go with the heavy guards on the grapple and grill.
The cylinder placement is in the center with no clearance issues - I would never consider placing the cylinder on the top - I am sure that the pictures from the ANBO grapples had a lot to do with my design.
The grapple is 57 wide with a 30 inch back and a three top clamp run by one 4 inch cylinder with a 2 inch bore - it came with a scrap loader I tore apart.
Costs WR Long Kit 580.00 - Steel - 220.00 - Supplies - 200.00 - Scrap Loader 160.00 - Other - 100.00
Total 1260.00 - Built and designed.

Very nice work. Hope you have an awful lot of brush to move cause it won't take very long with that set up!!

Nice grapple SC. Youll find it super handy on your tractor. Ive built many for smaller tractors and loaders, and run several on larger loaders building roads. They sure make it alot more enjoyable than trying to balance it on forks or chain it to the bucket. Also you can yous it to accumulate several mini brush piles into one load if you line your windrows up right. I got a question is that a rock piccker bucket you have on the scrap loader. I have a fella wanting me to build him something similar if it is. Take care TL. |

That should "eat" your brush piles in a hurry. I like the way that it opens up so wide.
I was wondering though, I would think that you should weld covers on the tubing on the grapples and the forks or they would pack full of dirt, debris in a big hurry and promote rust.

Nice work, I am curious why you did not put a taper on the front of the box tubing. You could however put a solid extension inside the tubes for more strength,

I left the ends open so that when I choose I can insert steel pipe in the two ends (four total) and move lumber and other supplies that are wider that the bottom 24 inch teeth - I may close them up if they become a dirt haven.
The rock bucket was used on a county truck to clear roads of gravel - I have since cut up the bucket to use for brackets on another project.
The grapple is making money for me already - yesterday I have cleaned up a debris pile that was on the property when I moved here ... and with the help of the grapple gathered and sold 3600 lbs of junk - at the cost of $4.00 per hundred pounds - I am now ready to start on the brush piles that I created with a JD 555 Crawler.
Thanks for the comments - I hope to get a MIG welder and be able to weld better and faster...only this would lead to more projects.
