The electric hydraulic plow pump might be a good idea. A quick ebay search didn't produce much but I am not sure of the specifics.

Are you talking about something like list?

when you look on ebay, search for Meyer plow pump.
they aren't hard to rebuild and can sometimes be had cheap.

Did you ever hook up your motors to direct drive like you were thinking about?

No I had not done the direct drive yet. While moving to the direct drive seemed simple at first it became more challenging. Where I thought I could put the motors resulted in few sprocket teeth engaging the track (less than 3). I was concerned about that. In order to put the motors in a better location (better wrap on the sprocket) would have required lengthening of the tracks. Due to these challenges I slowed my modification.

I wonder if using gears would work very well. I don't have a clue where to look for gears that would be big enough though. Then how would you keep them lubed up and clean enough? There must be some way to transfer power to the tracks in a foolproof way.

I see this is an old post but perhaps if you don't mind answering a question. The hydraulic motors I see in the photo above I am curious about as far as specs. RPM, pressure requirements, and ECT.
