Has anyone used Taper lock or B-lock hubs on smooth shaft without cutting key slots, for power transmission? I am getting back to my snowblower project and am considering using this type. Thanks for your expertise.
Browning taper locks work really well, but beware of the cheap immitators.
Adding a drop of locktite to the shaft as the adaptor cone is installed is always beneficial, but you don't want to get it between the cone and the shive.
You also want to check the locking screws from time to time.

The company I work for use 2 different types of keyless bushing products.
They are Trantorque and Ringfeder
They both do a very good job of locking items to a shaft.
My favorite one is the Ringfeder. I don’t know what the cost is, but you will not have to worry about it holding. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
BDI carries these products. Look under Manufacturer Retaining Locking they have a full list of different manufacturers.
All the ones I have used had keyways or I cut them in.
Getting a keyway cut shouldn't take much.
Do u have a Career Center nearby?
They will do it cheap or free.
Since u do work at home consider getting a used Bridgeport
or clone milling machine.
They also make GREAT drill presses.
