Id like to be able to automate the unloading of loose shavings for my horse stalls. The barn aisle is 12 ft wide and ceiling is 9 ft. The stall doors are 4 ft high. I saw an expensive side unload scoop that articulates. It would be pretty easy to make acmistake with ha setup because it dumps to th sidevand tools forward if you want. In a 4 ft opening my wife would need to be veru careful.

Also thought of some sort of auger setup.

Anyone already invented that?

they make bedding side shooters which amounts to a bucket with a conveyor belt on the bottom that shoots the bedding out the side. I have used them many times and the conveyor looks a lot like a snowmobile track to me. If you started with an old snowmobile for the track, wheels, ect and drive it with a small hydraulic motor you would have all the hard part done.

Something like this ?
Wheel Loader Side Dump Buckets
They work great for backfilling ditches, distributing gravel, topsoil, blacktop, etc between curbs and sidewalks ect.
Shouldn't be terribly hard to fabricate but as you can see, height is a concern and the side flow bucket mentioned by diesel scout might be a little more $ and fabrication , but might be a better option in your situation.

I just searched "side ejector loader bucket" and there are several patents for them but apparently such a limited market, no commercial ones. (second photo)

How many stalls would you like to fill at one time? Would you want to fill a trailer of some sort and unload the shavings from the side as you pass by? The number of stalls and the amount of beading per stall would define the size of the trailer or wagon. Or, would you be able to drop it from the ceiling via furnace ducting. Shooting or blowing it in will be very dusty and give every body involved a cough and a sneeze. Maybe an auger ...

Ponyfarm,
Just wondering how you made out on this project. The same thing was brought up on machine builders this week and I got thinking about it again and came up with the thought of a snowmobile frame and track, mounted upside down with a bucket/hopper fabricated on top of it. The conveyor belt, sprockets, bearings, etc are already there and assembled just a a hyd motor.

And here I thought I'd come up with a real brainstorm, then I got reading all the posts again and see that Tessiers had already mentioned it.
