Figure I would start it.

You can nominate anybody including yourself; post fabrication experience, equipment, credentials, welding equipment and know how.

/ ETA TBN member nomination thread #2
Lets use this thread for the "Official nomination thread" for the ETA nominations.
If you want to know how this came about, see http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ild-yourself-attachments-kits-interested.html or http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/261386-build-yourself-attachment-kits-how.html
Summary of the contest:
Everything Attachments is exploring the possibility of making "build it yourself" attachment kits that you weld together and then paint yourself. They floated the idea on here and had some very positive responses.
The next step I want to take is to test this idea in the real world with an attachment kit of our choosing($400-$1000 value) in which we will send, free of charge, to one capable person who will agree to provide us(and you) with an in-depth step-by-step review(complete with pictures) of the complete process from beginning to the painted, final product. We will choose a fairly simple attachment but it will require welding and the other capabilities already discussed in this thread.
This will require more help from you guys to let us know who is the right person for the job. Get together and recommend that person by polling/discussion. We will then gather your feedback and proceed.

Here is how it will work:
  1. From now until midnight Eastern time on 30 Nov you can post a blurb about yourself or any other TBN member describing:
    1. The fabrication equipment that you have to work with (ie: Stick vs MIG welder, etc)
    2. Your level of welding/fabrication experience
    3. Why you should be chosen
  2. After 30 Nov, we will close the nominations, put the screennames of the nominated people into the poll and put in a link to the poll with all of the options (perhaps actually close the thread?) so that people can vote for the person they would like to see build the kit.
  3. When voting please remember that:
    • You can only vote one time, but you can cast a vote for an many nominees as you like (see the test poll for an example)
    • You MUST put your TBN screen name as your name in the poll to help eliminate ballot box stuffing
    • See Doodle: Test Voting for TBN for a test poll
    • On 12 Dec at midnight Eastern time, the poll will be closed and the results passed to Everything Attachments
  4. Sometime after that (hopefully by the weekend) ETA will announce the winner
  5. The winner works out which attachment they want to build with ETA and builds it from the kit with copious amounts of pictures posted to TBN :D

Would it be worth adding the type of implement you would like to build or a list of a few desirable ones?

OK, I'll kick it off. I nominate 4Shorts. Not only does he have the skills and equipment, he's proven himself with a camera, many of us have watched his videos in amazement. He would be a good judge of the product both from a quality and ease of fabrication point of view. He would be able to give EA valuable feedback that they may be able to use to make improvements to make assembly easier for the "average" person. The quality of his work and attention to detail is unparrallelled and the resulting product could be held up by EA as an example of what's possible and the video could likely be used by EA and shipped with the product.

I know I havent built anything that I have posted in awhile, but I have built and modified lots of tractor related stuff. So, at the risk of sounding selfish, I nominate myself.:D My personal equipment includes an old Linde 225a Mig and a old craftsman 200a AC stick welder. A set of torches, and just other odds and ends like a chopsaw, saw-zall, etc. I also have a paint spray gun. (I like to keep my implements looking sharp). I have a heated 30x30 workshop, and lots of time to have fun with a project.

Here are a few things I have done over the last few years for my credientials.

I am also selfish so I am self-nominating also. I have moderate welding skills(I can stick thick and thin pieces of metal together and they don't come apart and sometimes the welds even look pretty). I also live in SC and when I get back home the middle of next month(Think hot, dusty and far away from home.) I would even be willing to drive to NC to work with the company as to their ideas about the product or be willing to go blind and just work off of supplied plans just like a regular customer. Sorry I don't have any pictures here of any of the work I have done but it includes and not limited to A very stout and not ugly(The wife likes it and isn't ashamed to be seen in it) new front bumper to support a 12,000lb winch on my Excursion, rebuilding a wrecked 3ton dump trailer, rebuildind and adding heavyer axles to a 20' flat bed trailer and a fair number of repairs improvements to my Kubota L5450 and LA1150 FEL.

I will nominate myself as well. I have 'guy with welding equipment' welding skills. Miller Vintage 200amp MIG welder, Hypertherm plasma cutter, horizontal metal cutting bandsaw, small lathe, small milling machine, misc. grinders, etc.

Where I generally struggle in a project is being able to make round corners, 'pretty' straight cuts etc. which help a project look 'factory'. That is mainly why I would be interested in 'kit form' implements... so when I am done it doesn't look 'home built'. I have added a lathe and milling machine to my shop mainly because of this (be able to build things with a more professional look).

Here are the projects I have done and posted over the years:

If he has the time I would nominate Harv, from his house building boxes to his fence work I think he has shown great "skills".

I edited the test poll after talking to ETA. You will now be able to vote for as many people as you wish when you vote once (ie: there are checkboxes for each nominee rather than a radio box that forces you to choose just one).

Should be easier to vote that way (I don't know about you. but I suspect that choosing just one person would be difficult)

So whats to stop someone from voting for the same person (or their self) hundreds of times?? Or is it you are only allowed to vote ONCE? and that ONE time you can pic as many as you want?
