what condition was the old cabin in or was the wood all ready gone before you started?

I have wanted to build a small cabin on the place here (not that fancy but for the kids and grandkids when they come or company)

Thanks for all the nice comments.
The old cabin was in rough shape, the roof had been leaking for years and alot of the logs (white pine) on the sides had rotted away.

The wood we put on the outside on the new cabin is hemlock taken from my grandfarthers old farm buildings, a bit over a 100 years old.

That's the coolest cabin I have ever seen. I love the stone foundation and columns. Nice restoration too.
