I have built 4 of these from 24 inch pipe for people and I built one 9 foot long with a fajita disk and bean cooker on a trailer and after all that, I still don't own one. I finally decided it's time for me to have one. This one is a 20 incher, 44 inches long with a 22 inch fire box. Still plenty big! Everything in it that is horizontal will be round, like the cooking tube and firebox, and everything vertical will be square, like the smokestack and legs.
I thought I should take a few pics before I got too far along. There is still plenty of work to be done.
Here are a few pics of the new one and one pic of the big one on the trailer, I wasn't finished with it at the time but you get the idea... Smoker.jpgMy smoker 1.jpgMy smoker 2.jpg

Hmmmm,
wonder if this should have been in the welding forum...
lessee, I'm welding, but I'm also building it myself.
I'm so confused. :D

You do good work! That's the type of smoker I prefer to use, but the ones I've used were made out of thinner sheet metal, only last 8 or 9 years before they rust out.

The rust out problem is an issue with the cheap units you can buy from places like Academy. The are generally made from 1/8 inch material. Occasionally you will find them made from 3/16 This pipe is a full 3/8 and it's heavy. I'll have to counter weight the door on the cooking tube.

When are we gonna fire it up? I figure in about 3 weeks. I am divided between this and about 3 other projects. Spring stuff ya know. Oh and of course my job. My job always gets in the way. I should have built this during the winter.

Hmm,
looks like I need to spend a bit of time cleaning up my place too.

Good looking smoker. Call me when you get it fired up n loaded, I'll be right over.

As far as where to post this, I think it should be here. You're building a smoker, not asking for welding advice.

I'll make sure to let everyone know when I fire it up.
