BX25
I own a BX25 and have used a 60" rear blade with a rubber edge added for snow removal. I do about 8 - 10 driveways in my area and looking back all the time is a real pain (literally). I was recently given a 60" front blade off an old willys jeep. I am looking for ideas and opinions on how to mount it to my BX25. I really do not need the Kubota Front Quick Hitch because i will most likely never buy a front blower or broom. But would like it to be easily removed/installed. I any advice would be appreciated as it will help get the ideas rolling. If anyone has done this before pictures would be awesome! I would like to thank you all in advance!

I have had my eyes open for a used blade, cheap thinking if I ever find one I would try to make a mount similar to the bxpanded blades that mout with the bucket on and use the lift and dump of the loader..
This is one way you could do it or even adapt the blade to mount to the loader with the bucket removed.

I had already planned on using the loader control for up and down and then adding another cylinder for angle movement. The drives I do are in a subdivision just down the road from my home. I already have to get off and change the angle of my rear blade too many times. Its almost worst than having to look backwards. Although connecting it to the loader might be the cheapest way.

The biggest issue with attaching the blade to the bucket is being able to stack snow. With the blade that far out in front of the pins you are seriously reducing the amount of snow you can push-up into your pile. I would suggest either building or having a bracket built for the blade that replaces the bucket. It would move the blade a lot closer to the pins.

I modified my A frame off old truck plow to fit on my FEL arms as I prefer to use plow in front. No problems what so ever. Since I had scrap metal, and welder I just went at it. I mounted the FEL points as close as I dared to allow the plow to pivot. Dont worry about sfrankland comment about stacking snow. If you can push it, then you can push it up and over the bank. With your current setup radioman you would be fine. Stick that blade on the front of your bucket and yes you would still be able to push just as much snow. Pushing has more to do with traction then the lifting ability of the loader arms. With a blade like you have stuck on the front of your bucket I doubt you would be able to stack very much. Stacking snow has less to do with traction and more to do with the lifting capacity of your loader arms. At the pins on a BX25 you can lift 745 lbs. but moving out just 19" past the pins you drop to 518 lbs of lift which is roughly where you are at. Moving out another 20 inches or more to allow for a pivoting blade attached to the bucket and you are losing a lot more lift again. The combined weight of the bucket and the blade assembly would mean a smaller lighter blade would have to be used to effectively stack snow. A setup like I suggested and like you have where the blade is attached directly to the loader arms would be the better and more effective choice.

This gentleman doesn't seem to be having any problem stacking with the blade.
BXpanded plow on Kubota BX25 knocks down high snow banks - YouTube

The video makes my point. For the first minute of the video the guy has is blade raised and pushes the top of the pile he is not stacking snow he is pushing snow. At the one minute mark he is trying to stack snow and seem to be struggling with it. The tractor is not able to carry the snow that is on the blade at ground level and push it up into the pile. The weight of the snow stalls the loader and he is forced to raise the loader arms losing the snow he had on the blade. As he raises it he is then able to move forward.

I don't know what kind of snow conditions the original poster has but I know the snow conditions we get here this setup does not work as effectively as a blade mounted the way radioman has his mounted. If you look at radioman's picture you can clearly see how he was able to carry the snow up to the top of the pile in one fluid motion. Simple physics will tell you that the further out your blade is and the more weight you have on the loader arms the less you will be able to lift.

Can you give us a better close up of how you connect the plow to your loader arms? I feel that taking the bucket off everytime to put on the blade would be a very time consuming event, am I wrong?

My neighbor has his plow pinned on the same as radioman's. He removed the factory pins that are secured with a small bolt to one that is held in place with a lock pin like in the photo. In the summer he bolts the bucket back on. It takes a minute or so to switch it over once you get the hang of it.
