Tractor
Kubotasaurus
Hi all, well it's time for another agricultural project. Have been gathering bits over the past few weeks, the plan is to make a Kubota b6000 sized tractor, I have most of the bits and plan the get started (and finished of course) very soon.
In the line up is a lister petter LT1 single cylinder diesel, 7hp @3000rpm. A very early Volvo rwd gearbox, a landrover rear axle (to be narrowed) 4.7:1 diff. Landrover rear rims with dumper tyres, vw front wheels, Volvo steering box and a HILO 9gpm hydraulic pump. Also have a 40" cutter deck to mount somewhere. Pics to follow

The idea will be to have a lay shaft to the side of the engine, as shown where the pulley sits just now, this will be 1:1 ratio, two a section belts act as the clutch. My hilo oil pump will be driven off the front of the lay shaft via a coupling, the middle of lay shaft will drive an 8t chain sprocket for connection with the gearbox input shaft, onto a 50t sprocket giving 6.2:1 reduction. The box ratios vary from 3.25:1 to 1:1, through a narrowed rear axle at a ratio of 4.7:1.
30" outside dia rear wheels will provide the drive, giving a usable working speed range of 2-7 mph flat chat at 3000rpm, less with less revs.
Hydraulics will be driven at a usable speed and provide ample flow and pressure with the Hilo pump designed to run at 3600rpm on a 5.5 hp engine.
I plan on running a front mount mower deck (1.2m wide) off a separate petrol engine for simplicity's sake.
Planning on making a small backhoe once this tractor is finished, I have most of the parts for it already

If anyone has some advice on slippy belt clutches that would be great, ie how much slack to give them and how much tension they need etc?

I have the LD1 model of Lister and I love hear it running. Looking forward for more news. Good luck with your project

Yeah you can't beat a claggy single cylinder diesel working hard!
Some more parts came today, 8t sprocket, and chain to suit. Just need 50t sprocket now to get on

I was planning to use it for my homemade backhoe, but it took some big proportions, and I decided to use a Kubota D650.
