Constructing new 36x40x12 Pole barn

Being able to thaw a walkway would sure be nice at my in-laws place right now. The MORON who built their cabin with a 12/12 steel roof failed to make the eaves wider than the wheelchair ramp (or at least build in an awning), so all the roof's contents go straight down onto it.

Took me a good half hour to be able to open the door last week.

I'm not sure ice cleats would help much, but he didn't do those either.

There's metal shingles now - looks just like asphalt (or slate) only way lighter and stronger.

Stay away from these. I was looking at these for our house two years ago. Found many different warrenty issues, asphalt grains do not stay on the metal and company's that do not back up their warranty. (In Canada they were given a can of spray paint and told to fix it themselves). Just do your research on these before deciding. Then the company was sold to another and the new company doesnt cover any old installs. It seemed shady to me.

Its been 5 months since I posted about my 36x40 project because there was nothing much to post. I am happy to report that has changed. A couple months back, I had 80 tons of 12 rock, and 100 tons of fill sand delivered to build my barn drive way and building pad. After that I had zoning issues that forced me to resurvey and combine my lots which forced me to cease progress until this week. I am going gangbusters on it now and have some pics to post.

Lots of progress, all post are set, walls are sheeted 8 out of twelve feet up.
