Beautiful work!

Looks good! Do you find it hard to see the ball to hitch up your trailers? There is no way I could position on in the center of my loader like that & see it. I have made a mount for mine on the outside of the mount to where I could see it.

Thanks for the compliments

Oliver,
It can be tough to see, but if you stand up a little it's no problem. The big help here is that it's open through the center as opposed to one of those full plate receiver attachments.
I would think one of those magnetic base hitch alignment flags would solve the problem

Very nice work JL,, and well documented,,
I was going through your photo's and noticed on your JD, you made your own quick disconnect
for your loader, looks like you "added" a loader to your machine also,
Do you have a link where I could take a look at those picture's,
I didn't notice them on flickr.

Very impressive, Jay. I think you should change your ID to JLwoodandmetalworks.

How do you cut your plate? The edges are so clean, looks like a plasma cutter, or some outstanding work with a torch.

Skyhook,
The loader is the 70A quick detach loader that came on the tractor when I bought it. . 2 handles and 4 hoses and it goes on and off.

Threepoint,
Thank you. While wood is one of my main fabrication materials, I do enjoy building all sorts of things.
All the cut edges are either a factory sheared edge, or one of my cuts with a portaband. Unfortunately I do not yet own a horizontal band saw or plasma cutter. Everything is cleaned and deburred with a flap wheel on a right angle grinder before paint.

My problem with seeing is not the loader but rather the the tractor it's self. It does not have a slopped hood & being a 6 cylinder engine sticks out there a ways.

That is a nice build. How has it worked out and any more pictures?

Thank you. It worked out great. My favorite addition to the tractor. In typical fashion I outgrew the tractor and traded it in. Guy at the dealer thought it was a factory made piece. All the pics I have are in the link at the end of the first post.

New tractor is already compatible. Now I just get to make attachments! Made a snow pusher last year

JLWoodworks---Do you use a 1/4' or 3/8" backing plate for attachments? I'm thinking of making a couple of things skid steer adaptable but not sure which to go with.

I've never actually bought one. I've made everything from scratch. It really depends on the attachment. Where the stress points are etc.

Nice work... I actually posted a question regarding making vs purchasing the ssqa. I guess I should have looked a little more first. I think I will tackle it. How did the forks work on your 855? I have a Kubota L2250, similar size. Seems like they'd be handy.

BTW, awesome idea for the firewood bins. I assume that's just hog or cattle panel around the pallets. I'm gonna have to make some of those.

They have the latch boxes made that you can buy, but none of them suited my application exactly. Plus the challenge is fun.
Thanks I'm very happy with the bins. Just the 16' x 50" cattle fence from tractor supply. 20ga metal angle screwed to the pallet to weld the fence to.
