I've been wanting to build something like this for a while, and too cheap to buy a "store bought" winch, so I've been fooling around with this on & off since March. I took pics all along if anyone is interested.

Yes, fingers crossed.:laughing: It's on a cyl. that I'm hoping will be the weak link, but the hitch is rated for some crazy (over 7000#) weight.

I could get in a LOT of trouble with a tool like that.

Swing a set of log tongs on the cable end, and there would be real worries ....;-)

Nice build though.

Keep a load in your bucket ;-)

That's the next item, build a small log grapple to hang off the end.

Wow! Gorgeous piece of equipment. Makes mine look awfully puny. Pics are of it mounted on the back of my Jeep. Have not gotten it to the tractor yet. Mine will be used to haul out logs I cut from a downward slope I do not want to drive the tractor down.
