Hi all, I've been searching and will continue searching for a post that some one here posted up of a set of forks he made that went on his bucket and on the 3pth - as I recall it was a set of forks that at the top he put a bar across just behind the top edge and that then he could curl the bucket such that the hooks on the top of the bucket would catch them and then they would leverage against the front of the bucket.
He also had them such that he could some how hook them on the back.

I'd like to do something similar/copy the design so I'd love to see those pictures again! Of course being stupid I didn't bookmark the posting...

Help! :)

Thanks all,

E.

Found a set of pallet forks that I'll use to make something similar to what Zick made in that post. Just debating in my head if I can figure a way out so that I can use chain hooks on the bucket instead of the round hooks he is using. I haven't got either hooks on the bucket yet so I can go either way.
I've got a couple ideas in mind that might work using the chain hook.

I have all my loader tools on Euro standard quick attach and made a 3pt hitch adapter to use the small tractor on the muck grab to clean out low roofed barns.
Bucket mounted forks would be no use to me, because the lift cylinders are already stronger than the tilt cylinders can hold on a normal load center. Let alone when putting the load center a bucket length away...

Cool, I'll be interested seeing what you come up with.

You could still always do how I did it, and put the chain hooks on the back side of the bucket where the arms pin in. That's what I plan on doing when I get around to it.

Good luck!

Agreed on the limits of what can be moved with the forks on the bucket, but within reason it's a useful tool. particularly for what I need it for! :)
Was hoping to get the forks today but that didn't happen. And the next few weeks is beyond busy so this little project will have to wait till then.

I made this for a friend several years ago. He had the forks and some old material. I just put the stuff together. I did not paint it because I was tired of working on it. The old material needed ground and rattled before I could weld it. He purchased the JD mounting hardware. Next time all new material. IMG_2529.jpgIMG_2531.JPGIMG_2534.jpgIMG_2530.jpg

I forgot to mention this was for a 5000 series JD . That is the reason the bottom lock pin is not engaged. The adapter on the 5000 series has it's C/L at 18". My 4000 series is at I think 15"

You'd be amazed at all the uses you can find when you have them. :D

Yes a bucket less fork setup would be the way to go but these were way cheaper to build and work great. Maybe if these ever break I'll move up to a quick attach setup.
