Absolutely - 1 3/4" pipe inside 2" sleeve mounted to side of sandbox.
Only issue is it has a fixed radius - have to get fancy and make a slider for the seat to move forwards and backwards so he can dig nice square cornered trenches. Should have mounted it in the middle of the sandbox. They quickly discovered they can swing around, tear up the sod and dig mower traps in the lawn. I guess sand is no challenge anymore. Kids! I'm building this one for my boy. I scaled up a Tonka truck backhoe mechanism and it doesn't really work for serious digging so I'm still fiddling with the geometry.
