Those are cool. I had never seen one until last summer at the local play ground. Does yours swivel?

Absolutely - 1 3/4" pipe inside 2" sleeve mounted to side of sandbox.

Only issue is it has a fixed radius - have to get fancy and make a slider for the seat to move forwards and backwards so he can dig nice square cornered trenches.

Should have mounted it in the middle of the sandbox. They quickly discovered they can swing around, tear up the sod and dig mower traps in the lawn. I guess sand is no challenge anymore. Kids!

Those things are so neat!! Problem is, if I had one, my kids probably wouldn't be able to get ME off it.

Best part about that besides the fun of it is the muscle that boy is building. Sure beats nintendo.

I'm building this one for my boy. I scaled up a Tonka truck backhoe mechanism and it doesn't really work for serious digging so I'm still fiddling with the geometry.
I built the tractor last year for his 3rd birthday starting with handicap scooter parts. Works great but now he wants implements!

Welcome to the forum...........

That is a great looking little tractor. I would like to see some up close and detailed pictures of it.
