I just finished testing out the boom mower that I have been working on this winter. Except for the carb float developing a hole, it worked great.

Kind of like a 21" weed wacker with a seat. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I will probably use it as is this summer and when all the bugs are worked out I will sandblast it and paint it.

Great looking project and even better that it works good.

That is a wacky looking mower. Very neat project. Control must be kind of interesting. How many valves does it take and what does each do?

Ron neat looking gadget.

When it's fully extended does it give you the sensation of a tipsy ride with the turf tires that you use?

Man would that be great for doing a pond bank! Great project. Thanks for posting it. John

Doxhound, unfortunately, there are no plans or drawings, just many hours of doodling and dreaming. I will answer any questions I can.

There is only one valve and the three point. I used the bucket tilt valve, push right to extend, pull left to retract.

It is not tippy at all. The boom pivots on the hitch and is supported by the gauge wheels on the mower. I can't hold the boom off the ground, it will only extend and retract.

It works perfect on our 1/2 mile of steep roadside. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That is just too cool. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Would like to see more close up detail of the mechanical workings so that I could copy it. Do the wheels castor?
The pictures all show the wheels straight.

As they say, "Whatever works". Neat project.

Wow, great job. I could use a larger model of that for the pond dam and banks!

That is a very neat idea and pretty well adapted /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif You could even make an adapter to add another deck. Make the outside gauge wheels easly removable and have a deck that mounts on that mount then the gauge wheels mount to the outside deck. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gifWith the added deck you could even mow more flat ground in one pass.
That is very cool, I am trying to think if I had a legit use for something like it HHHHMMMM.....

The wheels do caster. I will try and take some close up pictures in the near future. Thanks for all the comments guys.
I got a new carb on it this evening, runs great again! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

OK, I'll ask what everyone wants to know...
So, 2210, how much <font color="green">$$$</font>'s you got in that thing?
Inquiring minds want to know!

I have roughly $465.00 invested in actual parts. The gauge/caster wheels were $199.00, cylinder $50.00, hoses $25.00, motor (used) $75.00, carburetor $65.00, scrap iron $50.00. The arms are the reel lift arms off a junked 922 grain platform (free). The blade and blade holder came with the motor. Hope this clears it up a little. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Man, you guys have good junk up there. Down here, with our close proximity to Mexico, everything worth anything gets toted across the border. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
