So you don't care about someone in the manufacturing sector losing thier job due to Chinese Government subsidized trade huh? How would you feel if a Chinese company could bring in workers and dry clean shirts for $.30 each instead of the $3.00 you probably charge ? Now in my mind that would be free trade.

Open up your eyes and see the real world as it is.Don't know about you,but I'll probably never be able to buy a new car.Certainly not when my neighbors get $23 an hour for putting in a bolt every 43 seconds.Just how long did you think the prosperiety this country has enjoyed for the last hundred years or so will last? Seems to me that many folks never foresaw any sort of backlash. It has always been the aim of this country to try and spread Democracy to places where personal freedoms are largely unknown. Now,there is a new and still emerging Middle Class where none existed before.Do you propose they make a reasonable living growing rice?
All I meant to say is that...things are as they are and profit can still be made from the imports.

As to the 30 cent shirts...well,I still make money repairing dry clean and laundry equipment for many an immigrant. Were my 90 year old company co under...then I would simply take my marketing skills elsewhere.

My eyes are wide open and I see a communist country that outlaws religion and forces abortions selling freely in a market that was built and defended by generations of common peoples blood. Is our fore fathers sacrifice worth nothing? We are talking about a country that forced down one of our aircraft that was flying in international airspace and then refused to give it back until thay learned every secret.

Bobodu I had a major faiure today in the Honda copy. THe electric start has been out 3 months, got the word today that the part came in. I went to the dealer I bought it from and Told them it was hard to start and thought the timming was off a tad. they checked it and couldnt really find anything with out dismounting it. I had to go back to my jobsite and air up a trailer tire on our scraper then I heard a small peck like happens when the belt gaurd eases out of adjust ment than a clank. I went back to the dealer and he took the head off. one push rod had worn through the rocker arm. I dont mean to bash the little engines this one was supposed to be contractor grade. got about 75 hours on it. Ill have to load up my 16 horse Ingersol now to do my mobile service work. THey may have a part in the warehouse they have alot of refunded engines if they dont see fit to refund ours for a new one..
I have a friend that has oneand his only problem is the gas tan rustes through about every 6 months. He hasnt had all the problemes weve had. On the other hand Kama engines Ive had alot of good luck out of. I do some service work for a contractor here that puts their diesel engines on his water pumps because the are disposable in the mine if they get run over or dropped.

Hmm i was following this thread with interest....

My cousin in Canada, who i visited in 2004, told me the exact same story about a Chinese 13 hp gas engine, used to drive the chemicals pump on his home built sprayer truck.
He also had a pushrod wear through the rocker arm in the period of just one spring spraying season... less than 100 hrs.

He brought it back and got a 5 hp honda engine instead, since then he insistst on genuine Honda.

Mostly, a license build is only cheaper, because they use cheaper materials on the imitation make.... problem known with Ursus built MF and Torpedo built Deutz tractors....

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I was thinking of buying one of these engines.

Does anyone here have any long term use of these things?

I need to power a old log splitter I'm repairing and I thought one of these might be ok.

Well Im gonna have to eat some words on this one.Though Ive had bad luck withe the one on my compressor the one on the generator at work ran 8 hours a day 5 days a week running an air conditioner in the summer and a work light and fridge during the winter. But it had alotof oil changes. Our local dealer had all the parts instock a mile away. the big thing with it was it started fouling plugs and got hard to start found out the whole choke lever assembley haddworn in half and parts were missing. But now handa has this dealer in a lawsuit about infringements. hes got alotof them off the shelves now. One thing He sold a bunch in California and they werent emission speced. He also had pained alorof them honda colors and rebadged them.

I think you you get what you pay for. What is a cheap deal?? Might just be as stated...Cheap but undependable. You think you saved money but DID you?? Now you can buy another because the cheap deal broke down. Now you are inconvienenced and and have to pay the half you saved on the first cheap " Good Deal" Was it really a Good cheap Deal???

I think a more apt question to ask is ...

Did you get your moneys worth out of it? Did you feel you got $180 worth of service out of it?

Sounds like the perfect engine to put on a big pressure washer. Unless useing the big washer for a buisness I could never hope to get $800 worth of use out of one. (thats a lot of quarters at the carwash) Something that you need decent power for, but doesnt run often or for long.... (log splitter, homemade bandsaw mill, etc)
