I am looking for a small "hunk" of insulative platic.
I need a block 6" x 18" x 1" could go a little smaller but not much.
Everyplace I have looked wants me to buy large sheets at VERY high prices.

Gary....could you sandwich 3 or 4 pieces to get the desired thickness? I've got a sheet of quarter inch thick silicone rubber probably 12 inches square and it will sustain pretty high temperatures. It's yours if it will help.

Where are you located? There is a salvage "yard" in St Louis MO. It is actually indoors. It has odd lots of every kind of metal and plastics.

McMaster-Carr will supply sheets down to 1sqft of most or all those materials you mentioned. For instance, if you can use HDPE, McMaster has 1"x24"x12" stock for about $32. They will also custom cut. http://www.mcmaster.com

Think "cutting board", look on internet for .coms selling these precut or custom cut. All plastic should be insulative. The material available with properties close to Delrin would be nylon.

I have found 3/8" or 1/2" cutting boards in stores usefull for marine and other projects.
