very simple but strong. I like horse shoes a lot and always try to find new use for them. See the photo.

Excellent idea ! Wonder if the cows can figure out how to short circuit that mechanism ? :)

The green grass sure looks nice too. In northeast Texas we don't have any of that, except on golf courses.

I can tell you for certain that a horse would figure that out in no time flat.

Thanks for the idea, i think i will hammer a part of the load of old horseshoes my brother (a blacksmith) dumps in the scrapbin undr my workbench on the fenceposts and see how the horses like them...
I dont like my old man's way of ropes and wires anyways... ;)

Horses are smart yes, but if you tighten that bolt on the pole enough so the horseshoe turns with some friction, the horses wont keep trying that long..

Interesting you mentioned the grass, Butch. I actually feel Virginia is littel bit dry these days - depends on the perspective I reckon:)

I will see what bart figures out with the latch - so far i have to help our kids sometimes to open it:)
