I found this by the side of the road. They are asking $4500 with the 5' finish mower. It is very clean, but I 'm not sure it's worth that much.

So far I know....
It's 23 yrs old
It's a 2 cylinder diesel
It's very clean, well greased, and has new filters
Some new spindle bearings on mower
Front tires around 50%, no checking
Rear tires around 70%, no checking
Never used for anything but mowing.

Mornin Marcel,
I think that may be a bit high but not too bad considering your getting a finish mower also. I bought my MF 1040 FWD with a 6 ft front loader about 4 yrs ago for $6000 with 1300 hrs.

That 1040 looks like twice the tractor the 205 is.(nice tractor BTW)

Original price on the 205 was a little over $6k in '84 and it has a 65 cu in engine

Original price on the 1040 was over $10k in '86 and has a 122 cu in engine.

I was thinking $3k tops with the mower.

That is a great buy. I have a MF 205 with 3,000 hours that is a 1981. The tractor is used for mowing. I have a Woods RM 500 that is also 26 years old with it. Still runs great. Just bought a Woods RD-60 Heritage Series and am very impressed with the RD-60. It does a beautiful job mowing.
Is that MF 205 still for sale? If I came across that tractor on the side of the road with a mower, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. My MF 205 runs better now than when it was new. I have always kept the filters changed well below the recommended intervals and have adjusted the valves once, replaced a few batteries and that's all I've done to it in 26 years. Originally paid $5,500 for the MF 205 new.

The 205 is built in Japan by Hinomoto. It is a good quality tractor, but I would not recommend it with a loader. The bellhousing is aluminum. To mount a loader, it takes a structure that goes to the front frame, to the bellhousing and to the back axle...and that structure must be rigid and very heavy. Otherwise the bellhousing snaps. Been there, done that.

For a mowing tractor, it's a sweet machine.

So, would finding parts be next to impossible?? Was it Hinimoto that went Bankrupt?? Are Toyosha engine parts still available??
