Dose anyone know about this kind of tractor. I saw an ad for one and I am interested in it.Wondering how they are rated and what kind of pricing they get. This one is at an auction.

You might want to go to the General Forums page on this website and scroll down to "All Other Brands". Open it. Approximately the fifth thread from the top look for one titled "Farmtrac Roll Call". In this thread there is allot of discussion on Farmtrac tractors. Long became Farmtrac several years ago. I think you will find that the tractor you are looking at is manufactured in south Korea by LG/LS.

You might want to look at the Farmtrac website to confirm the Long tractor you are looking at is now in fact a Farmtrac.

My personal experience with my Farmtrac 300 DTC with Front End Loader has been great.

Hope this helps.

The old Long tractors also came in a model designated as a 360. It was manufactured by UTB in Romania. Personal opinion, if it is the UTB, I would be very hesitant to consider it.

What year is it? If late 70's - early 90's it could be a UTB from Romania.
If it's a modern tractor, it should be a LG/LS from S. Korea.

I was not aware that there was an older Long tractor called a 360 also. This is good to know,

To dgl24087 and shvl73 I want to commend you for the polite and professional way you added to my half correct original comment. I have seen many comments or corrections come across as just plain rude and obnoxious. This attitude of some makes some of us a little shy about trying to add to a discussion.

Thanks You.

I believe Mlauk has you pointed in the right direction.

As the link shows, Long marketed tractors from UTB. Long had some type of agreement in the 80's with Ford, but that didn't seem to last long. (pun not intended) Ford partner'd up with New Holland after that, then Fiat bought New Holland and the Ford name went away.
Escort limited, out of India which was making the 3000 & 4000 series Fords back in the 70's, bought the financially troubled LongAgribuisness to market its own tractors here under the Farmtrac name. The larger series Farmtracs are manufactured at the Faribad, India plant, and the smaller CUT's are built by LS in South Korea. (I think I got all that right)

Anyways, you might want to check the availability of parts & service prior to the purchase.

I have some experience with long tractors. Several years ago I bought a long 445 4WD. It is essentially the same as a long 460. 560, 560 and 360 are basically the same tractor with the 460 engine being the same as a 360 except a 460 has a higher rpm giving more HP. The 560 is a 4 cyl engine.

Parts should not be a problem. When first purchased, my tractor needed a front ring and pinion. I found one in a salvage yard for $300. Later, a shifter rail broke in the trans because of a worn first and second sliding collar and worn cogs on the gears. Long in Tarboro was very helpful and sent me a new shifter rail for about $30. Did not replace the gears cause they were several hundred dollars. Just buttoned the trans back up and used 3rd and 4th in medium and high range giving me 6 speeds. The gears can now be purchased for less than 200 dollars each. Also, I had to put a seal kit in the ps but that was due to the previous owner negligence. You can purchase the dash, instrument cluster, starter, etc aftermarket at reasonable cost.

I had to do a lot of work to my tractor but only because of previous abuse and you could tell this thing had a hard life. I thought the tractor was well built but an older design of course. I would have kept it but it was just too big for my needs.

One day my borther was giving me a hard time for owning something he had never heard of as we were pulling into a country road restaurant. Just that time an old old farmer drove up on his Long 445 tractor. I asked him how he liked it and he said "bought it new, best tractor I ever owned" and I just looked at my brother and laughed.
