Found a local 2120 for $20,000 with the following specs.
The machine looks good, not abused and runs smooth.
Is this a fair price?

1997 New Holland Tractor Model 2120, 40 HP, 4 WD, 1318 Hrs., 12 Speed Transmission w/shuttle shift w/newer Woods 9000 Backhoe w/18" bucket and newer Woods 1020 Front Loader w/6ft. bucket. Quick release bucket and a set of forks. Backhoe and Loader are detachable for regular tractor use. Fiberglas canopy, safety package, Ag tires and weights.

Average trade-in for the tractor alone is about $5800. Average resale is about $9900. So are the FEL with QA and forks and the BH worth $10K on an 11 year old machine? That's your call.

Make sure the engine is OK (no bad leaks, no coolant in the oil or oil in the collant, no smoke after the engine warms up), that the tranny works in all gears, that the PTO and 3PT work OK, that the FEL and BH work OK. Check condition of the tires. Are the tires filled with fluid for added weight and traction? If so, what fluid (calcium chloride, windshield washer solution, etc)?

Check the hours on the engine. If more than 4000-5000 hours, I would drop my offer by a few thousand.

It seems a little bit expensive.

Check the front tire sizes. I've got a '96 with 8X18 front tires and I had a heck of a time finding replacements a few years ago.

The thing it's got going for it is that it's one of Ford's most popular tractor's ever. A significient step up from a TC45 let's say. I have a 1987 2120 thAt's been a strong trooper for 21 years. I'd probably pay about 18k for it. You'll love it.

I agree with Andy. I have a 2120 with almost identical hours. Strong machine easy to use. I think the price is a $3-4K high. You'd want to be sure no work was required, fluids and maintenance history was all there, etc. It's a nice rig, though.

I also agree with andy. i had a 1920.. a lil brother to the 2120.. they were/are awesome tractors.

IMHO.. 20K is a lil overpriced for that model.

I paid about 9500$ used for my 1997 1920 and use dit a few years then traded it back to the same dealer for 8900$ on a 7610s to big mowing jobs...

figure 6K$ value on on the used laoder and backhoe. and 11k$ on the machine.. all figures as 'good' condition.
