OK, I'll stick my neck out here. I live in SW Wisconsin and I just bought a John Deere 2720.

I paid $15,330 for the tractor, $2,750 for the loader, and $2495 for the 62 mid-mount mower. Total before tax, $20,575.

With the WI tax the total sale came to $21,706. I did get the 0% for 48 months JD financing. My payments will be $407 per month.

Was this a good deal? I have good credit and I checked 4 other JD dealers prices and they were all about $400-$500 more. My goal number was $20K.

I've read lots about percents of discounts off list prices and what constitutes a good deal but I see few hard numbers. So, here are some hard numbers from May 2009 in Wisconsin.

I think there are more great deals at the keyboard than there are at the dealers so I think you did OK. Those are the prices that I hear in NH too. If you have a good dealer, and like the tractor, you did well!

It's been a year and a half, 75 hours of seat time and I'm happier and happier with my JD 2720 and the price I paid.

Fits my needs perfectly and the 0% financing was a good deal!

Then that's all that counts. I don't worry too much about getting a great deal, a good deal is close enough for me and sometimes even less than good will do it for me.
