If you like Kubotas, look for a 7-10 year old B-series tractor. A 2001 B7000HST would fall in your price range (no FEL).

My first tractor was a new 2005 Kubota B7510HST (21 hp engine, 17 hp pto, 4WD, power steering, hydrostatic transmission) with the LA302 FEL (4-ft wide bucket, about 800 lb lift capability). Excellent machine.

$5-7k can get you a nice B-series with a loader if you are patient, and wait for the right deal.

Some of the recent deals in my area (I'm near Harrisburg, PA, and was looking in a 250mi. radius) that I missed, or passed on while shopping for an upgrade over the last few months:

Ebay:
B1750 w/ Kubota 1640 FEL, 1300 hrs, $5300
B2150 w/ Bush Hog loader, 412 hrs, $6200 -- was bummed that I missed this

Craigslist:
B2400 w/ Kubota LA351 FEL, back blade, and 14' trailer, $8k -- was also bummed that I missed this one
Various BX models w/ FEL and various implements have been listed for $6800-$11,000

What I ended up buying:
'05 B7610 w/ 124 hrs, with (Kubota) LA352 FEL, Woods PHD & 9" auger, and King Cutter XB-series 5' landscape rake, $7,500

If you're going to be doing a lot of FEL work, you'll want a hydrostatic transmission, and power steering (which all the above have, that was a requirement for me).

'9? G1800S, 48" MMM. 70's Troy Bilt Horse tiller with new 6.5HP briggs engine.

The means justify the ends.
