I'd like to be color blind. Honestly...I really like the JD color and do have trouble with pastel tractors. My old JD 2 cylinder is easy on the eyes and sounds so nice running. And being a gasser rather than a diesel, she starts reliably in cold weather. The large suspended and damped seat combine with the long length and huge axle width to make her everyone's choice on rough sloping ground. I don't believe any compact can compete with the JD for pulling a big plow or for the awesome power of the Cat II 3 pt or the massive PTO.

But lovely as she is, the JD530 is a big clumsy long tractor, slow to shift and not handy at all ...so for zipping around the property doing little chores a couple of little Yanmar diesels are quick, handy, and over the past 30 years have proven to be the most reliable tractors on the place. Plus some have that fingertip clutchless shift on the column. That's my favorite transmission of all time. I do wish JD had bought that tranny option with the Yanmar engines.

so last year when it came time to invest in a small TLB for some tight construction work the first place we went was to the JD dealer to look the JDs. After looking at every make available - From Allis to Zetor - as well as strictly industrial machines...we ended up with the Kubota M59. It just beat every other brand when we considered number of features that we needed. And it has done the work without complaint. A remarkably strong machine. It's also rapidly becoming the "chore tractor" of choice around here - high praise indeed.

But like I said, I do wish I was more color blind. Frankly, the tangerine color still takes some effort on my part and pastel tractors just seem WRONG to me.

Im not color blind yet since i only have a riding mower. I am implement color blind but id rather support many dealers rather than one. Oh, when I get enough money for a tractor, I will ask what is best. So far im at $1500. Wish me luck, because im sure working hard for this money!

Being a happy owner, the incumbent colour would have the advantage for certain. That being said, I do checkout the alternatives when I buy anything.

Pretty much sums up my attitude. I've been really pleased with Kubota so far, so I tend towards it. Don't have any experience with other tractors, so no real opinion on them

I buy the best "candidate" that's available at the time, almost regardless of the brand. However, I won't buy Chinese made or something really unknown or that I can't get service for in my area.

I have owned many brands of trucks, tractors & trailers and I find as long as you have a strong local dealer they all have their weak & strong points that probably even out in the end.

Just buy the tractor that suits you best at the time of purchase. Worrying about being brand loyal handcuffs you from possibly buying a different brand that might have more features you'll enjoy!

I never thought I'd buy a New Holland backhoe, but now that I own one, I like it more than my Case backhoe and evryone told me Case was better!

I have owned several brands over the years and had settled into being a solid MF only owner. I looked at the Kubota M125X at a farm show though and really liked it and had settled on seriously considering it when I bought a tractor to round bale with. Despite my best efforts to buy a M108X though, the dealer talked himself out of it. Currently running two MF and a Montana. My nieghbor didn't think there was any brand around except JD, until he ran one of my MF's for awhile. He now has a MF of his own. He still won't seriously look at a Kubota yet though.
I really think a dealer that will work with you and that has a good service/parts dept when you need it, is a bigger factor than the brand name most of the time.

I'm like "Builder" I stay with the major brands. I'm always looking for a deal, something that may need a little work to get it back in shape. I'm always buying, selling and trading.

I think you're smart for that.

I can't believe people just buy Ford, John Deere, etc. when they may be missing out on the opportunity to own something that may do the same job for less or be a better quality product.

I do see where a big farmer or construction company might stick with a brand because it's the only game in town and he gets better deals for buying from one great dealer, but very few of us are in that position.

I started out gray and still have it, bought the other green and sold it. Had a red and silver but it wore out, now I have the recent orange addition.

Ford, Oliver, Massey Ferg, Kioti.

No, I am not color blind as long as it's GREEN.

Just kidding I have had Fords, Farmall, and now John Deere. All have been good tractors. The John Deere is the first new tractor that I have ever purchased.
