I am sure the guy just wanted to sell the machine and realy didn't give
any thought to the fact that I have been obsessing over it with eager anticipation for the last 2 weeks .........
a step up in horsepower a little to better match for all the oversize attachments I have

I feel better knowing that other people also think I got a raw deal...sometimes I think, well perhaps it is me that is crazy...

I think I am going to go out behind the barn for a good cry....
I will stop and pet the lonley Farm Pro on the way and explain to her
that she is just going to have to spend the winter cold and alone.
No other red tractors to keep her company.....

I am going to have to buy her a heater, she isn't very eager to start
when it gets below 40 degrees, I can't imagine what she will be like
at 20 below. I was hoping to use the International gas 340 in the winter.

These are the pictures of the one that got away....

It does look like a nice tractor, but gone is gone. Probably had a cylinder going bad anyways

Dave.

I e-mailed him the link to this thread....I hope he shares it with his wife, he kind of put her in a bad spot.

If I had shown up exactly like I was supposed to at 3 PM with my truck, trailer and fist full of money, after not getting to bed untill after 4 in the morning because I rushed back from the horse auction in Mt Hope Ohio to make the appointment, I may have lost it a little, and even though it wasn't her fault I am pretty sure I would have unloaded on her. Then I would have felt like an ***.....

It is sure good to have a place like this to blow off some steam...

Sorry this happened to you. I've been on both sides of these deals - had stuff sold out from under me and have held stuff for people that never showed up.

You were in the right here.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone...

it was a 1973 so it is almost new.....

oh wait a minute....I was born in 49 so almost everything seems new

but you are right...gone is gone I just got to let it go.....and hope to find a prettier one around the corner......I just need to live long enough,

unloading to relieve stress should help in the area

Some people...

We had a big storm blow through our area a year ago that took out a lot of trees. A friend told me about his neighbor losing a big cherry and needed someone to cut it up. Being a woodworker I started slobbering all over my self. I promptly called the man Sun. night and arranged to be there the next day after work to cut up the tree and clean up the mess for the wood. When I pulled up to his house that afternoon just like we had agreed there were three big tree trimming service trucks driving away. I walked around to the back of his house to find only sawdust on the grass.

He was standing there. I was in shock and disbelief. He said the tree trimmers were trolling the neighborhood and that he just wanted it gone and since insurance was paying for the clean-up...yada yada yada. I so wanted to unload on that guy but I just kinda smiled and walked away. Instead of harvesting some good wood to make furniture it's all in the landfill.

I've done this several times and has worked for me.

I tell them this call is being recorded and if the item is as described and in good condition I will purchase it and would you not sell it till I have the first right of refusal. They then say sure, OK.

Good lets consider this a verbal contract then right?

Then I say because it will cost me several hundred dollars to look at the item with me taking work off etc. and I would hate to be out that money.

They pretty much get the message and I have never been burned. By the way i have never recorded one phone call.

Side note the recorded phone call thing works wonders for sales calls, billing disputes etc. One I told the phone company I was recording the phone call they said " you can't" I said why not I know your recording ME! She hung up on me.

Though I understand both sides with Craigslist sales because you will get hundreds of inquiries and sometimes no one will show up, so these people take what flashed in front of them.

Once they flash cash the seller usually jumps at the cash and could care less about anyone else.

The seller chose the time we were supposed to make the deal, I didn't
Yep.. makes ya wonder when you leave a deposit.. or they tell you it's not needed.. then sell it out from under you..

Yep.. leaving site of the item pretty much means it's still for sale till you get back.. no matter what was agreed upon.

I remember a few years back I saw an old tractor at a dealership that was a trade in ( old beater antique like I collect ).. I was on lunch and had to get back to work.. I talked to the owner and I paid for the thing on credit card and said i'd be back after work to get it. when i got there, and was getting ready to load it.. I had to ward off 2-3 other salesmen that were in the process of re-selling it to another customer!! sheesh!

Maybe some smooth talker comes along after you give a deposit and tells the seller, 'I'll give you another $50 over what the other guy offered.' He probably already weasled out of the seller what it (supposedly) sold for.

Could happen that way too.

Dave.
