Default What am I getting into?

Just joined the largest tractor community in hopes of getting and giving some advice/opinions.
I am in the market for a compact tractor or something slightly larger. I have had a Ford 8N. Not enough power now four wheel drive.
However we bought a new place that is all wooded, not much lawn to mow, need something for the garden and we plan on doing a lot of landscaping. So we have been searching many sights. Spoke today with a rep in S.C. regarding a Ford 1220. Comes with loader, bush hog, tandem trailer, post hole auger, and scraper blade. One nice package deal for $8600. The tractor is reconditioned from Korea. A flag goes up and I am skeptical. Tractor comes with a 90 day guarantee. Anything on the tractro that appears to be 25% worn gets replaced so the rep says. New tires new bulldog loader, new paint job.
Should I persue this with a reconditioned motor or keep looking. Its a 3 cylinder 18hp Sanbiura,,,,something like that.
Thanks

From what I have read on some of the Chinese stuff it sounds great but I would keep shopping. Not that I am great voice of experience on that particular brand.
It does sound like you could use something in the higher horse range if you are going to be doing a lot of digging and scraping.

You did not say how big your place is ..how many acres..but from my past experience if I had it all to do over again I would have bought a nice used skid loader, bob cat with a tooth bucket and a grapple..which in woods with the enclosed ROPS will serve you well and after you are finished with the woods and landscaping ( moving dirt ) sell your skid loader and buy a CUT at that time. Just a thought. Trying to use a compact tractor with a FEL in the woods is challenging and I do it..but you can puncture tires, yourself and otherwise damage the tractor.

I am not sure about these reconditioned tractors, normally they are reconditioned Japanese tractors that were not sold here originally in America. I think it has something to do with the tractors meeting a certain standard for U.S. use. I am not sure but I think that being reconditioned they don't have to meet those standards. Some one who has purchased one of these tractors will know more about this than I.

Since this is a Ford, I wouldn't know if it was originally manufactured for U.S. use. I would be cautious, but I would not rule it out if it was a U.S. manufactured tractor.

Good luck, welcome, and keep us informed onwhat you decide.

reconditioned in korea?

Hello??? I smell something fishy.

It sounds like a grey market tractor. I know some people have good luck with them, but I'd stay away. The biggest problem is finding parts if it was not made for the U.S. market.

Thank you all, thats what I thought. If its not made in the USA I try to stay away. (Fishy for sure soundguy)
The place we acquired is just 40 acres with a spectacular view. You can see clear to the PA border and nearby wind turbine farm.
I'm going to keep on looking. Been talking to some local dealers and the price is high for new equipment but the deals to be had have never been offered before. There talking 0% financing for 60 months. In some cases they will go 72 months.
I will be getting my profile together soon and some pics.
Thanks again.

Sounds like a nice place! I just pulled the trigger on a Mahindra from Wallace tractor. Rick Wallace has been a pleasure to deal with and very prompt to answer any questions. Give him a PM. I feel as though I got a great deal from him. I also got 0% for 60 months

Going to an auction on Saturday.
A 95 MF 1240 4x4 with loader cab and backhoe caught my eye.
We'll see what else they have.
