Tractor Sizing What Size More/Deck for 1 Acre ? 20 Acres ?

Looking to buy a mowing tractor soon.

What size engine and deck is ideal to cut 1 Acre ?

Also, interested in a mower to do a 20 Acre lot. What size tractor/mower deck should I consider ?

Both areas the 1 Acre lot is a residential lawn. Just need a inexpensive mower for this job. Not sure what size to get.

The 20 acre lot will be rough cut. It's unfinished land that our Neighborhood Association "may" be acquiring soon.

How much time do you have that you want to spend mowing?

For the 20 Acre lot as little as possible. Folks would be volunteering their time to cut it so time would be of the essence.

for 1 ac.. a scut and 5' finish mower would be ok.. for 20 ac.. if we are talking finish mowing.. then a cutand perhaps a 7' rfm

If time is of the essence then you need to base your decision on cost. How much you have to spend?

I have a 50" scag zero turn that's rated at 3.8 acres per hour. They may come a little smaller but not much. As far as the 20 acres, I'd go for at least a 7 footer and it's still goig to take sometime. If finished grass on the 20, you'd be better off with a 6 foot commerical mower. They'll do about 7.5 acres per hour.
