I am looking at buying a TN series 60-75 range or a T4030 mfwd rops tractor and I am finding it very hard to get the details on the transmissions. Speaking specifically with the mechanical shuttle and power shuttle either 12x12 or 16x16, I see info either from new holland or scattered on the web stating speeds of 18.73, 23.5, and also 25 mph, or 40 and 30 kph. The 30/40 kph translate over to 18.73 and 25 mph, so what is the 23.5? When transporting on road going to different fields or a couple miles to woodlot, the faster transmission makes a huge difference over the slower 18.73. My question is if anybody has a good description and also how to tell which one a tractor has if I am looking at a used tractor? (w/out pacing it with another vehicle) Any info is appreciated but a call to New Holland might be in order. Also, from my limited experience, this is the kind of question dealers don't help much with.

All two wheel drive TN's and T4000's will be 30 kph. All 4wd TN's and T4000's with mechanically engaged 4wd will be 30 kph. 4wd TN's and T4000's with electric over hydraulic 4wd engagement MAY have 40 kph.

30" R-1 rear rubber is your friend. R-4 tires will slow travel speeds noticeably. If you find a tractor you like, PM me the serial number, I can probably find out how it spec's out.

You might consider that a 5 mile round trip (10 miles total) will take 9.34 minutes longer traveling at 18mph versus 25mph.

Ok, so must be push button 4x4 engagement in order to have the 40kph. That is a good start.

Are you positive that the 2wd tractors didn't come in a version faster than 30 kph? My neighbor has a TN70 2wd with cab and 16X16 mechanical shuttle ~year 2001, and I could swear they said it came with a faster travel speed ~22 maybe.

I just bought a T4330 w/ the 16x16 and mechanical shuttle. It has the high speed transmission in it because it topped out at 43 KPH when i stretched her legs the other day. I would think your dealer would be able to help you determine the difference.
