Bolens G152 - 15hp diesel - Value?

My neighbor has a 1990 Bolens G152 for sale. It has a 15 hp Iseki diesel engine with 850 hours. He is the original owner, purchased the tractor new for just over $6000. The mower works well. Tractor has 3 point hitch, front & rear pto's.

Looking to the collective wisdom of the members to suggest a purchase price. Thanks for your help. Ron in Central New York

Ron - believe it or not, I've seen similar Bolens diesels selling for that new price! If I remember right, the "2" in 152 indicates 2wd. I think you have a good oppurtunity to get to know the use and maintenence of the unit and make an intelligent decision. Is there anything else included? Snowblower? Plow? Chains/weights? A friend purchased a G174 (17hp -4wd) about 6-8 years ago with wts, mower, blower, and a set each of turf and ag tires, for around $6500. He was tickled with the price, bought it on the spot. He made a few hundred when he sold it, which to this day he regrets - he wanted to get something bigger with a bucket, but never did.

I'm no expert, but I like Bolens' and sorta notice them when I see them, and when they're for sale. Given that a good used gas unit goes for nearly 3 grand, and the Bolens diesels around here are all over between 5 & 6 grand, I'd ask his price, get to know the thing, and follow your nose. Maybe there are some experts out there who can steer you better. Keep us posted.

I saw the same model in Unclehenrys.com for $3200 with 48" mower and 2 stage snow blower, and thats about what I would expect. Also a G194 a 19HP diesel 4wd, with loader 900 hrs asking price is $6975.
