Thanks for the information on this site, I'm looking for a tractor that would mow the pastures at our local Cowboy Church about 15 acres and cut trails at the deer lease. I have an oppurtunity to purchase a 1985 Allis Chalmers 6140 with brush hog-a roller-and blade, for $3500. This AC shows 937 hours,it runs very good (in my opinion) because it started raining when I was going to drive it-it idled for about an hour an half with no visiable problems. The current owner showed me how he could lock either rear wheel and spin the tractor. It doesn't smoke at all if you don't count the small cloud when it first starts, which reminds me there is no key but jumps the starter celinoid to start.I did check the oil and there was no discoloration or foam, but there was a very small amount of smoke coming from the dipstick hole(motor running)
Your thoughts and ideas about this purchase would be greatly appreciated

Not a bad little tractor. Parts are getting harder to come by though.
