Received quotes on these two tractors I am considering purchasing for our land.

JD 400X Loader w/ ballast box, hood guard and 73 in. (1850mm) materials bucket for 4679.58
Frontier RC2072 RC for 2203.61
pretax prices and all qualify for 36 mos. @ 0%.

New Holland Boomer 3045 Hydro, 4WD, R4 tires, rear wheel weights, block heater, 250 TL loader w/ skid steer style QT 72" bucket for 27525.00
Woods Heritage Series HC 72 RC for 995.00 (shear pin) and 1095.00 (slip clutch)
No special financing offers. Cash price, pre-tax.

Leaning towards Blue. Dealer only 10 min. from land and can service on my property. Prior experiences with other equipment purchased from them has been good. Plus green is 10% more. test drove 4720, since 4320 not on lot, and that is a beast of a machine. Is there significant differences between the two or is one paying for the JD name?

I have a 3040 with the 250 loader and a 6 ft new holland rc and I love it. I don't know if one is better than the other or not. I had every intention of buying a deere until I was stunned by the price difference. It was even more drastic than your quotes. I love my NEW HOLLAND. But that price seems a little high to me. I gave about 22 for all above equipment. I don't have wheel weights or the extra 5 hp though. I think you will be pleased with either machine.

Don't know how New Holland is doing now but when I was shopping for a tractor 1.5 years ago, the local New Holland dealer was showing me his inventory and I noticed several tractors had parts missing. A Hydraulic line on one, a filter on another even a seat was gone on one tractor.

I asked why and he told me New Holland was having trouble delivering parts. Terribly long wait time for anything and to keep his customers in the field, he was robbing his "for sale" inventory.

He also would service my equipment in the field but with his upfront admission to having difficulty getting even basic parts, I was afraid to go with Blue.

I ending up buying a JD 4320 and have been very, very happy with it. Field service contract was available with it also.

Have you checked the Massey Ferguson 1648 series. I got a quote on that with a CAB with radio and FEL (no mid mount hydraulic but had rear) for $29,483. THat was with the free loader vs 0% interest for 60 months. I chose the loader and 5.99% interest rate. THe 1648 is according to the MF website a direct competitor to the Boomer 3040. THe cab option is close to $5000 additional on any tractor.

All I can say for sure is I have a 4320 except with the cx loader and I am very happy. I'm sure you can't go wrong either way but I love me some green paint :D
