Buying Advice gas tank for Troy-Bilt Horse

I'm lookin for a replacement gas tank, Kohler 7HP spec# 281295, model K161T. Can anyone help a lady out and tell me where to find one?

You should be able to "Google" your model to locate the part #'s. Also you can contact most small engine repair places near you and they can order it for you.

MTD bought Troy Built out, so depending on the year make, you may be able to try them for a replacement.

I am assuming it is a plastic tank. If you find a used one be sure it has the fuel cap with it and is the correct one. There are two different type of thread on the tanks. My dealer stuck me for a $20 cap ouch, but was better than the rag that the seller was using.
If the cap threads are just tight blame the ethanol the older plastic caps are doing that even on chainsaws.

Ouch--- $105 for a new tank?
If yours is just leaking, remove and take to a radiator/gas tank shop.
They will correctly solder it for not all that much.

$105 guess thats why my cap cost 20 bucks, what a racket on parts. It is almost cheaper to buy a harbor freight engine for $89 and switch.
