I looked at a L245 last night with a FEL at a used tractor dealer. He didn't know the history beyond the previous owner who he thought had owned it about 5-6 years. There was a weld on the left side of the frame about 6 inches behind the front axle. Is this something that happens commonly and should be ok or should I pass on this one? Thanks for any help.

If the price is right and everything else looks
good get it.
If the weld either cracks or doesn't suit u,
grind and reweld or plate it on backside and
grind front smooth and repaint.

My B7100Hst with Fel Has had most of the welds on the support stucture redone as well as those holding the bucket on. Seems to still work ok.

Could have been welded do to a stress crack or a bad factory weld.It may be worth taking a closer second glance of L245 also a test spin.

It's on the tractor frame.

Is it a surface weld or is it welded on both side of the frame. Is ther a corresponding weld on the other side of the tractor. Could the tractor have started to crack in half. If the cracks looks deep I would pass....
