I have about 100 acres, & what I intend to do is fencing, some feeding of cows & just some pleasure riding around on the farm with my kids.

Ethan, that may be like asking which brand of tractor is best./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif The best one is the one you like best. I've only had experience with the Mule and it was a great machine. It belonged to my brother, but stayed at my place quite awhile. I had a rancher neighbor who would never buy a new car, pickup, or tractor (always bought older used ones), but after I took him one day on the Mule to do fence repairs, he promptly went and bought a new Mule; uses it to herd cattle, carry feed, carry a spray rig for insecticides and herbicides, carry the tools for fence repairs, etc. And his wife uses it to go fishing./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif If you get the hard top, as my brother did, it makes a great platform for pruning trees, cleaning rain gutters, etc. and with the power dump bed my brother had, we moved a lot of dirt; could not overload it.

Take a look at Bobcats new Utility vehicle called the "Toolcat". It Is The Cats Butt. Of course it is also around $30,000.
But what an awesome concept. 44 horse Kubota Diesel, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steer, FOPS, a pick box on the back, an available enclosed cab, a host of Bob-Tach implements A 7' lift height. Ugghh Ugghh Ugghh
I Want One !!!!!! I don't need one & I can't afford one.
BUT I WANT ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a link to it.

My brother (must be something about brothers, Bird), bought a Mule right before deer season. He also uses it on around 100 acres. It has completely impressed me! We used it deer hunting to bring deer out of the woods and to transport people to their deer stands. It hauls about 1/2 face cord of wood with the racks he made for it, and it will haul much more dirt than you can dump out of it by hand.
I have driven the Gators, and, while I don't want to make the JD owners blood boil, I can't see the reason to buy one over the Mule. The 4wd is practically a necessity when there is more than 6" of snow.

ethan,

With the exception of the Toolcat, this one might have a little more function than the others you spoke of. I'm sure it would be a little easier on the pocket book than the industrial quality Toolcat. Might be ok for working but no room for passengers.

Sure do like that Toolcat though. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
