Help with new purchase.

I took a 120 mile ride yesterday to get a first hand look at the new 1526 MF. No dealers have them yet so I found a man that had bought one and would allow me to come to his house to see it. I have looked at the Kubota 2320 hydro, Mahindra 2516 Hydro and Gear , New Holland 1030 and a used 1110. I really like the MF it has a higher lift height then all the rest I have seen. The unit is larger then all the rest also. Larger is good sometimes but I do alot of space restricted work mulching and stone walls and such. This was a problem in the past when I had a TC33D very tight quarters when doing fencing or mowing. I like all four of these tractors to be honest. Prices are as follows with tractor, loader and R4's.

Massey 1526 $13.800
Mahindra 2516 hydro $13.700 Gear $12.300
Kubota 2320 hydro $ 13.500
New Holland 1030 (2010) $ 15.200 Used 1110 (2007) with 15 Hrs traded for larger tractor by Horse farm owner (wife wanted larger unit) "No pun intended" $12.250
I don't understand why the 1030 is so much more. It is 28hp but also the smallest of all the units. I do like this feature for my concerns about getting in and out of spaces. I would like to know what you think if you own one of these units I am ready to make a purchase after a long wait for a house to sell. Scaper

Re: Help with new purchase.

I'd jump at the Kubota 2320 (obviously).. the 3-speed rear is worth its weight in gold.

The New Holland 1030 is about $3000 over priced.

Hmmm, don't be confused. I agree with Messick, get the Kubota. Go spend some time with it. Compact and powerful, well made. I don't think the Mahindra is in the same league. The NH is overpriced and not as nice. I can't speak for the Massey. The 3 range HST is very nice and the tractor is a good size for mower, small estate, and garden sized work.

..and no, I don't have any of these brands in my stable.

I'd add the JD2520 and the TYM T293 to your list. Both have short wheelbases with power. And why not the bota B-series?

I'd go with the Massey, I don't believe in a 3 speed HST(more that can go wrong with little practical use), especially in a compact tractor.

I love the Kubota B 2320 and Messicks seems like a great dealer. Neil has been talking to me and I like his attitude and honesty. I have a BX2200 now and I have had two other Kubota's over the years. My father was the head of DuPont Chambers Works shops and all he ever bought for the company was Kubota's. I was just looking at all brands out there you never know when you may find something inovative on another product. I like the Mahindra's 5yr. drive train warrenty, the MF's lift height on the bucket and B2320's size and apparent power. Wish I could get a quick detach bucket for the B 2320's loader though. I'm also concerned about tractive power as it applies to tractor weight it's self. Will I have this problem with the B 2320?

Unbalasted, Yes. You can always add weight. Between a fluid fill and a weight box in the rear you can put almost an extra 1000lbs over the rear tires. Its all about taking a minute to set the tractor up for the task at hand. Take the weight off when you go to mow, put it on when you'll be in the dirt for awhile.

The MF 1526 has a 3 range HST and offers position control on the 3ph. The 20 series kubota use the quarter inching valve on the 3ph also have a 3 range hst. I believe the combination of the 3 range hst and the position control makes the 1526 somewhat of a standout among those listed. The agco build your own website lists a QA bucket is also available for the 1526.

I was just going to point this out. The massey also can have the throttle tied to the HST peddle (like kubotas auto throttle on the L40s) With the prices the way the are, go for the massey.

Thanks for the info guys I have pictures of the Massey and it is quite a bit larger then the Kubota. It lifts the bucket to 90.5 inches thats 16.5 inches more then the B2320. The bucket can be had in either 54" or 60" QR style. It's a nice unit but I'm concerned about working in tight spaces. Looks like one heck of a tractor though. Here's some pictures. I was told that the OTD price is $13.900 not $13.800 I just don't know if I can afford the extra $100, LOL. Neil did say the price on the Bota would be $13.800 because it's been awhile since we first spoke but thats understandable, I had to wait due to the housing market to sell my mothers house after she passed and that took over a year.
