nice equip, but the predator 8' lift 3ph is way too much for the OP tractor in question. otherwise, lots of good options out there....

I have the 5' competitor. Works great with my MF1533. Weighs in at just 608 lbs. Just checked the specs and looks like he could go with the 6' with no problem. http://www.modernusa.com/images/com-pop.pdf

Wow lots of good info, any opinions on the who has the best clutch / gear box design? I have had to do 2 clutch rebuilds on my Land pride over the years.

As for gearboxes, I guess it's anyone's guess... There is really no "rocket science" here. A simple right angle drive. The one's with the heaviest input and output (particularly) are probable the most durable.

The slip clutches are all designed by others, and seem to fall into two basic types. As the HP requirement goes up, so does the number of friction discs in the clutch. The specs on the springs are tighter than one would expect... Only about .060 if memory serves.. I think one would need gage blocks or a decent caliper to set the clutch up properly.

Modern Ag products, I have the 6' compeditor, made in America 5Yr. on the galvanized deck. heavy deck. the top and sides are more rugged. bought mine this spring, and no dents yet. I have never regreated my purchase. this one should last a good many years of service.

Im gonna say a 6ft is going to be at the biggest you can go(3pt),just my opinion. . .
^What he said. Anything bigger, and you will be overloading your tractor. It will be putting a strain on the hydraulics and will greatly decrease the life of your PTO clutch.
