Re: Hour Meter
I bought a 1951 8n from the widow of the original owner back around 1990 when it had 1200 hours on it. That is still my favorite tractor with about 2000 hours on it now.

Re: Hour Meter
my 55 ford 660 was just rolling up 500 hrs when I got it. oem style tah with same amount of paint on it as the rest of the tractor. crisp clutch pedal.. no wear on the fenders ( arm rests ).. no wear on the floor boards.. throttle linkage.. etc.. 55 psi oil pressure.. etc.
low hour vintage machines are out there. a lil rare.. but out there..

Re: Hour Meter
My around the barn tractor only racks up 120 or so hours a year. We run it about every other day if not every day but only for 15 minutes to 1/2 hour, It is a 2005 and by no means a powder puff, it is used hard. My haying tractors rack up considerably more hours per year but especially the raking tractor has never been hurt in its life. Hours don't show the whole picture and beyond 10 years or so may be a small part of the deal. With the 2 sitting in front of you you would choose the 1972 massey with 3500 hours before the 2005 JD with 850 hours every time.

Re: Hour Meter
My tractor will be 2 years old in Oct and still has less than 50 hours on the meter, but more so actual hours. I rarely run it above 1500 rpm so the hours dont rack up on it, but even if I did run it full throttle, it wouldnt have much more that 75 mainly because I have not been home but about 1/4 of the time to use it and my tasks only take a few minutes usually. Same with my cars, wifes is a 2003 and has about 80K, my 2007 truck which we use all the time when I am home just turned over to 30K last month and I put at least 6000 of that on in the last year in about 4 months when I went up to Wyoming on a 5 week job. First time I have been working in USA since I bought the truck. I can surely see why folks equipment might truly not have 500 hrs. int 20 years.

Re: Hour Meter
MY JD 2030 also does not put "real" hours on. Tach and hour meter work, but majority of time I am in the 1500-1800rpm range, not the 2100rpm PTO speed. So the hours add up slower.
