Default Kubota L4600 or Mahindra 4035

Trying to pick from the kubota L4600 or the Mahindra 4035 (both 4x4 with FEL). I want to use 6 foot implements, bush hog, maintain a gravel road, spread dirt and keep up about 300 acres of hunting property. The L4600 has a bigger engine (46 HP) but the 4035 has stronger FEL and is heavier. Thanks for the input.

You will get more done with the 4035. HP isn't everything and from the sound of what you want to do, weight and hydraulic capacity will be your friend. Maybe consider one of the Grand L Kubotas, maybe an L3940 or a L4240, the 4035 is still quite a bit heavier though.

Thanks for your input. Yes, weight is one of the things I am considering. I have a half ton Chevy and will be maxing it out once I add a trailer and an implement. I saw the 4035 weighs over 5000 lbs with FEL. Thats a beast, for only a 40 HP tractor!

If you are going to be transporting on a regular basis, then maybe lighter would work out better for you. The heavier machine is going to get more work done for you, but if you can't get it there, it's not going to do you much good.

My little Mahindra 3215 tips the scales at 5000 lbs with water in the tires, the loader and a heavy box blade. Power to spare, I doubt that you would have any power problems with the 4035 unless you are over sizing some of the implements. Stay with 6 foot stuff and you will be about unstoppable.

If you are going to be doing much grading, be sure to get at least 2 rear remotes so that you can add Top and Tilt cylinders to the 3pt so that your grading comes out much better and easier.

For what you have planned, weight will not be an issue. If anything if you have to transport the tractor it'll actually hinder you more than help.

    That's good for you.

But a "half ton Chevy", say a 2001 1500 w/ a V6 may only be rated for 6,000 lbs or less. A 5,000 lb tractor, an implement, chains, fuel, and a trailer will surely push that.

The L4600 basicly is a Grand L30-series under the hood.

If its hilly I'd recommend loading the rear tires too, so add some more weight for that. "Spreading dirt" I imagine soon equals digging dirt and you'll never regret having a heavier tractor for dirt work. And a good box blade adds 700-1000lbs more too.
Maybe spend what you saved buying the Mahindra on either a really light trailer or upgrading your truck?

If you are set on keeping your current truck and trailer, then look for a tractor that will fit in your capacities, otherwise bigger might be better for you and your circumstances.
